NFC communication
Short-range communication known as NFC is a short-range radio communication standard that allows for wireless data exchange at a distance of several to several centimeters. This technology is a simple extension of the contactless card standard that combines a smart card interface and reader in one device. NFC devices can communicate both with existing ISO/IEC 14443 equipment (cards and readers) as well as with other NFC devices, and are therefore compatible with existing and already in use public transport and payment infrastructure, such as MIFARE.
RFID reader

Information from special tags attached to objects (but not only, because RFID is also used to tag animals and even people) is read via radio.
